The Government of Kenya is committed to promoting Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as stipulated in Article 55 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. The aim is to provide a quality education that prepares students for global competitiveness. However, the implementation of the goal of TVET is faced with difficulties. The missing linkage of training to labour market needs, the strong theoretical orientation of training and the low income that most colleges generate from their production, among others. Kisumu County on Lake Victoria runs 26 TVET Centres.   Your activities/tasks As a Comundo co-worker, you will be part of Comundo's country program in Kenya. You will contribute to strengthening the TVET system in Kisumu County so that vulnerable children and youth can have better professional and social prospects by developing relevant skills through high-quality and inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training. Based in one of the 'Centres of Excellence' in Kisumu you will provide support to improve the management and administration systems of the centres, ensure that Managers of the 26 TVET Centres are able to run their centres effectively and efficiently and that the colleges develop their production side to increase their financial sustainability. Among others you will: - Do organizational capacity assessments of the colleges and training needs assessments of their staff. - Suggest introduction of improved management and administration systems for the management of resources and student administration and support improvements. - Develop a model for colleges to improve their production units and assist in implementing the model. - Assist in improving course administration. - Organize and conduct training and coaching for center managers. Literacy Teacher Trainer

Zambia belongs to the group of the poorest countries in the world. Therefore, a majority of the population lives in tough situations without sufficient access to health care, education, social welfare and protection of their rights. 66.2% of the population is below the age of 25 years, education is therefore a key factor for development and breaking the cycle of poverty. Many families in Zambia cannot afford to send their children to school. Our partner organisation Association Pope John 23rd (APJ23) runs 6 community schools in marginalized compounds. They aim to improve literacy and ICT knowledge to give the children and youth better prospects in a digitalised world.   Your activities / tasks As a Comundo co-worker, you will contribute to the improvement of the quality of education within the framework of the Zambia country program. You will primarily support the teachers of APJ23 to build up their skills in the field of education with a focus on: - Providing training and coaching in literacy and ICT  - Training on how to create teaching materials and development of manuals - Supporting networking and the recognition on national level - Supporting APJ23 with technical advice Your profile - Degree in Education - Experience in teaching literacy, preferable in English - High affinity to ICT - Experience in teacher or adult training - Self-motivated and independent - Experience in working in a different cultural setting is a plus - Very good English knowledge   General requirements  - Completed vocational or tertiary education - At least 2 years of professional experience - Resident in Switzerland or Germany - Intercultural competencies and the ability to act in diverse contexts - Good physical and mental health - Basic knowledge in project management, institutional development and adult education welcome - Ability to work independently and in a team - High social skills and intercultural sensitivity - You are motivated to live a simple lifestyle - You are prepared to contribute to public relations and fundraising

Our country program contributes to an improved learning environment for children and youth at all levels of education. As a Comundo Co-Worker (Technical Advisor), you will be part of the Comundo Country Program in Kenya, working in one of our Partner Organisations (PO) offices. You will contribute to improving the quality and accessibility of education in a different environment than the one you are used to by providing methodological or administrative support to an institution in the field of education. You will strengthen the organisational and technical capacities of the organisation and its staff.
