AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service, we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It is committed to a world in which conflicts are resolved without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in El Salvador, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution to civil conflict resolution and sustainable, equitable development in the country through peace-building measures.

The Museo de la Palabra y la Imagen (Museum of Word and Image) in San Salvador was founded in the late 1990s by Venezuelan journalist Carlos Henríquez Consalvi to preserve memories of the Salvadoran civil war, including all political perspectives. Today, the museum hosts numerous exhibitions on different historical periods and maintains a significant archive of photographs, manuscripts, and video recordings. It has its own building with exhibition halls and a cinema, produces books and audiovisual works, and offers diverse educational and cultural events. El Salvador has a history and present marked by conflict. While the current regime under President Bukele has reduced gang violence, it severely restricts democratic rights, increasingly represses critical voices, and plans to "rewrite history. MUPI's work is therefore essential: it preserves historical documents and promotes critical engagement with the past. Given growing restrictions on civil society, innovative strategies for knowledge transfer and strengthening peace culture are urgently needed.
