The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyondinfrastructure with sustainability at its core. We began operations in Beijing in 2016 and have since grown to 111 approved members worldwide. We are capitalized at USD100 billion and AAA-rated by the major international credit rating agencies. Collaborating with partners, AIIB meets clients' needs by unlocking new capital and investing in infrastructure that is green, technology-enabled, and promotes regional connectivity.
In June 2024, AIIB approved a new policy for Climate-Focused Policy-Based Financing (CPBF) to supplement AIIB's Sovereign-Based Financing (SBF) instruments. This new financing option aims to support AIIB Members in their efforts to achieve their national climate transition objectives.
The CPBF supports AIIB Member-led policy and institutional reform programs that are aimed at scaling up climate finance and accelerating Members' transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future. It will prioritize reforms that increase adaptation finance, mobilize private capital, and increase the supply of bankable infrastructure investments. Responsibilities:
The intern will support the STF department in implementing CPBF through the following activities:
- Develop and populate an internal results-tracking dashboard (Excel/Power BI/Tableau) monitoring policy actions, disbursement triggers, and agreed climate outcome indicators across CPBF operations.
- Conduct a structured literature review and evidence scan on global climate policy financing and synthesize findings to support Climate Policy Briefs.
- Summarize national climate policies, institutional frameworks, and sectoral evidence to inform Climate Policy Diagnostic Notes.
- Prepare knowledge products including presentations, briefing notes, and summary materials for CPBF knowledge sessions.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program, preferably specialized in public policy / development economics /climate science / environmental sciences, or related fields.
- Passion for international development/ climate finance.
- Advanced data management and visualization proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great team player.
- Fluent in oral and written English.
