The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyondinfrastructure with sustainability at its core. The Public Sector Clients Department, Region 2 (PSC2) is responsible for identifying, originating, preparing, executing, and investing in projects with public-sector clients in Pakistan and Afghanistan; Central, East, and West Asia; and Europe, North Africa, and Latin America across the range of AIIB-covered sectors through various financing instruments and solutions. PSC2 leads coverage of public-sector clients, taking responsibility for project preparation, due diligence, and project approval processes, and ensuring that key economic, commercial, financial, and legal issues are considered and incorporated into the financing structure and legal documentation, and followed through during the implementation phase.
The Intern-Transport will carry out his/her activities within the PSC2 Transport Team and will contribute to AIIB's lending program in Region 2 by supporting the planning, design, preparation, and implementation of transport-sector projects and programs. The specific responsibilities are identified below.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting and delivering transport projects across the PSC2 region, by assisting in the collection and analysis of projects data.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of transport project database for accurate and up-to-date reporting. Collaborate with team members to transform project insights and data into effective communication materials, including reports and presentations.
- Map and integrate data sources related to the project technical, environmental, climate, social and procurement, and support in the design of a coherent and standardised framework for project-level data tracking that facilitates effective resource management and identifies key operational needs.
- Contribute to the development of interactive dashboards and visual analytics that translate complex datasets into clear, evidence-based insights on trends, supporting decision-making and strategic planning.
- Explore and test AI-assisted approaches for country profiles, gap analysis (e.g. between national frameworks and AIIB standards), document analysis, helping the team assess how artificial intelligence can be applied rigorously, credibly, and responsibly to the project due diligence tasks in the transport sector.
- Promote data and AI knowledge by sharing methodologies, tools and lessons learned with colleagues, contributing to the PSC2's broader knowledge base and innovation culture.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or transport engineering and currently master enrolled in economics, finance or data science.
- Knowledge of AI-tools, information management systems and strong technology orientation.
- Passion for international development/area of interests.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great team player.
- Fluent in oral and written English, knowledge of Turkish, French, or Russian would be an additional asset.
