The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank whose mission is financing Infrastructure for Tomorrow in Asia and beyondinfrastructure with sustainability at its core. Philippines: Climate Resilience Pipeline:
AIIB's engagement in the Philippines is expanding through a coordinated portfolio of operations supporting climate resilience, inclusive rural development, and community-driven service delivery. Three priority projects are under preparation with national agencies: the Metro Manila Sponge City Project of the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Inclusive Partnership for Agrarian Reform Communities Project (IPARC) of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), and the Panahon ng Pagkilos Project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Although implemented by different agencies, these initiatives share a common objective of strengthening local infrastructure, social resilience, and institutional capacity under AIIB's Sustainable Cities and Rural Development priorities.
The MMDA Sponge City Project introduces nature-based and engineered urban drainage solutions to reduce flooding and strengthen Metro Manila's climate resilience. The IPARC Project, implemented with, will enhance productivity, basic services, and economic participation in agrarian reform communities. The Pagkilos Program, with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, will support community-driven mechanisms to improve local infrastructure, social protection linkages, and disaster preparedness.
Responsibilities:
The key objective is for the intern to work with AIIB's project team in developing the APG financing program. Specific outputs would include:;
1. Support to Project Document (PD) Preparation
- Synthesize feasibility studies, sector reports, and agency submissions into concise internal notes.
- Compile and organize technical, policy, and institutional references required for PD development.
- Draft text inputs for the PD in coordination with specialist team members
- Support project preparation by preparing meeting notes, tracking follow-up actions,
2. Research and Analytical Tasks
- Conduct targeted research on sector policies, guidelines, and relevant international or national references
- Produce brief technical or policy notes to inform project design and internal discussions.
3. Coordination and Documentation Support
- Support the implementing agencies in preparing materials needed for Government's Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) review
- Support coordination with government counterparts including missions, meetings, and other engagement activities by the Project Team
- Consolidate information across the projects to support coherent reporting within the Philippines engagement and maintain organized project repositories.
The intern may also be required to work on other projects / programs from time to time depending on business needs.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Master's program, preferably specialized in civil or urban aspects of engineering / economics.
- Experience in the Philippines, particularly government approvals is an advantage.
- Passion for international development/area of interests.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Great team player.
- Fluent in oral and written English. Knowledge of Filipino is an advantage.
