AIIB's Portfolio Monitoring Department (PMD) is responsible for monitoring the Bank's rapidly growing investment portfolio. As operations expand across regions and sectors, the PAM team is continually enhancing its portfolio monitoring capabilities to improve risk oversight, track financial performance, and build a comprehensive repository of portfolio insights and sector knowledge. These efforts will support the bank's ability to deliver informed decision-making as our portfolio evolves in scale and complexity.
The PAM-FI intern will support the team in analysing the resilience of our FI loan portfolio by building and running stress-test models, helping quantify potential impacts of various risk parameters on portfolio performance and assist in generating actionable insights for portfolio monitoring and risk management.
Responsibilities:
The intern will support the department through the following activities:
- Develop an MS Excel-based stress-testing framework for modelling key portfolio risk scenarios, including credit, interest rate, and sectoral shocks.
- Prepare a set of base, moderate, and severe stress scenarios, tailored to specific geographies and sub-sectors (banks, NBFCs) incorporating assumptions on key risk parameters such as NPL increases, liquidity shocks, probability of default, and prepayment behaviours.
- Generate analytical outputs such as impact of various scenarios on capital.
- Create visual aids, tables, charts, etc. to communicate stress-test results effectively to team members and management.
- Document methodology, assumptions, analysis and conclusions for internal use.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a Master's, or PhD program in economics, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Understanding of credit risk, loan portfolio metrics, and financial statements. Knowledge of financial institutions is a plus.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, proficiency in Excel. Experience in financial modelling would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Fluent in oral and written English.

- Review and validate environmental/social risks, impacts, and mitigations identified by the investment teams on selected complex projects covering nonsovereign-backed financings, especially FI projects, against the requirements of AIIB's ESP.

Requirements:
- Minimum 20 years of relevant experience working in a multilateral development bank (MDB), bilateral development organization, or private-sector organization.

Responsibilities:
- Work closely with business stakeholders, understand business data processes, gather and streamline data requirements, and maintain relevant documentation.
- Perform domain-specific data analysis, research and retain data knowledge from Project and Loan business system, translate data requirements to technical specifications, and collaborate with the project manager and implementation team to support the design and delivery of solutions that meet business requirements, including but not limited to data solutions, business intelligence solutions, and self-service solutions.

Requirements:
- More than five years of working experience as a data associate and/or business analyst or relevant experience in business analysis, data analysis, financial analysis, statistics, and research methods.
- Master's degree from a reputable university in a relevant field, such as business analysis, data analysis, computer science, information management, or financial engineering, or equivalent experience. In lieu of a master's degree, a bachelor's degree in these fields from a reputable university, along with relevant certifications and experience.
- Familiarity with machine-learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn). Experience in designing machine-learning and artificial-intelligence applications to effectively optimize business processes and support better decision-making would be an advantage.
- Strong technical capability in MS SQL and familiarity with business intelligence and data visualization tools, such as PowerBI and Python.
- Working knowledge in Project and Loan products is a must. Lending, portfolio management, and cooperative reporting is a plus.
- A team player with the ability to develop positive and collaborative relationships with business partners and communicate effectively with both business and technology data stakeholders.
- Self motivated, adaptive to evolving business models, and able to drive results and support business technical requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in managing deliverables in agile environments would be an advantage.

(Senior) Budget Officer

AIIB's Strategy, Policy and Budget (SPB) Department is responsible for developing and monitoring the implementation of the Bank's strategic agenda; developing and overseeing compliance with the Bank's operational policies and procedures for the Bank's investment operations (non-treasury), including environmental, social, procurement and financial management; and developing and monitoring the Bank's Business Plan and Budget to implement the Bank's Corporate Strategy and manage the Bank's administrative budget to support the implementation of the business plan and ensure judicious use of resources.
SPB is hiring a (Senior) Budget Officer who will work closely with other team members in assisting Management to strategically plan and manage AIIB's budgetary resources to support the implementation of AIIB's Corporate Strategy and business priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Support the full budget cycle, including annual planning, execution monitoring, adjustments and reallocations, reporting, and control of administrative and capital budgets; support senior management and Board discussions; and partner with Business Units.
- Lead or contribute to improvements in strategic resource allocation by developing planning concepts, mechanisms, incentives, and metrics to enhance the Bank's operational efficiency and effectiveness; strengthen existing budgeting frameworks; and support strategic discussions on the Bank's staffing plans, global/local presence, and multiyear budget planning.
- Deliver specialized budget tasks or drive topical discussions on the Bank's resource management, such as major expenditure reviews, resourcing models, policy/procedure updates, productivity and benchmarking analysis, and knowledge management and capacity building, including identifying best practices and opportunities for resource optimization from peer analysis or benchmarking.
- Drive enhancements in budget controls and management reporting through collaboration on process improvements and system optimization (including SAP SAC, SAP S4HANA, and related platforms across planning, execution, and reporting).
- Represent the budget team in corporate projects aimed at advancing cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Provide expert advice on budget matters, and respond to ad-hoc requests from stakeholders, including senior management, across the organization.
Requirements:
- Master's degree or equivalent in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, business analytics, or related fields from a recognized university. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA) are a plus.
- Minimum five years of experience for the Officer role and 10 years for the Senior Officer role, with a proven track record in budgeting, financial and strategic planning, cost and financial accounting, and working with financial systems in international financial institutions / multilateral development banks, private-sector financial services industry, consulting firms serving financial institutions, or a complex multinational company.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytical tools.
- Strong understanding of financial planning and analysis and budget management and their connection to operations, financial results, and business planning.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with experience preparing materials for senior management and high-level discussions.
- Collaborative team player, showing initiative and a mindset for continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
