Job description

UNDP supports countries in designing and implementing national policies for sustainable human development. UNDP focuses on the following main areas to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Sustainable Development, Democratic Governance & Peacebuilding, and Climate & Disaster Resilience.

 

UNDP in Central African Republic is working with the UN Peacekeeping Operation MINUSCA and other United Nations entities in the Central African Republic to provide rule of law assistance, contribute to peacebuilding, support the fight against impunity and restore state authority by implementing reforms in the justice and security sectors, with a view to increasing public trust.

 

Your role as Transitional Justice and Rule of Law Officer:

  • Support to implementation of the Rule of Law portfolio
  • Contribute to discussions and consultations on the context, challenges and opportunities for UNDP engagement in favor of Transitional Justice, access to justice and SDG16+
  • Provide support for the implementation of programmes and the development of new programmes / portfolios
  • Support coordination with other partners in the field
  • Contribute to the reporting and capitalization of experiences and good practices in the implementation of transitional justice, access to justice and SDG16+ in CAR
  • Partnership building, resource mobilisation

For this position:

  • 3 years of paid professional experience in one of the areas related to justice sector reform, rule of law consolidation and/or the promotion of Human Rights and related themes, including transitional justice, security, and access to justice for women (and victims of Gender Based Violence) and vulnerable populations is required. UNDP does not count Internship experience.
  • Ability to conduct conceptual and strategic analysis and to make sound recommendations, write reports and make presentations is an asset.
  • Experience in developing countries, in the Africa region and post-conflict context is an asset.
  • Relevant experience in the UN system at the programmatic and technical levels, particularly in Africa in a crisis or post-crisis context, is an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of French (oral and written) is required.

This would include leading and contribute to the delivery of the agriculture and food program, quality assurance and interaction with internal and external clients, as well as other development partners, while working closely with the AGF team, the AFW SD Program Leaders, and Country Management Unit (CMU) in Cameroon.     The Senior Agriculture Economist will:   • Lead the preparation and supervision of operations as Task Team Leader of projects led by SAWA1 in Central African Republic and those projects supporting agriculture and food system related activities led by other GPs in the country. Assure timely delivery of these operations with high levels of quality.  • Lead or contribute to analytical products and initiate and maintain a high-level engagement and dialogue with key government counterparts on the strategic program and policy issues in areas including sustainable and climate resilient agriculture, linking smallholders to markets and agriculture value chain development to accelerate competitive agriculture development.  • Lead or contribute to policy dialogue on agricultural and rural development issues and interactions with the client, development and other partners, and alert management (both country and sector) to issues requiring attention.  • Work with the relevant Program Leaders and staff of the Agriculture GP and other GPs to find opportunities for addressing agricultural and rural development issues as part of the Systematic Country Diagnostics, Country Partnership Frameworks, country policy dialogue, sector investment operations, development policy operations, and other multi-sectoral projects.  • Identify innovative opportunities or ways to address existing needs in the agricultural sector, including bringing in experience from other parts of the world, and to better align the GP's portfolio with the AFW region and CMU's core priorities.  • Represent the World Bank in fora involving the community of development partners and private sector.
