Job description

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is the largest humanitarian organization in Switzerland. We provide a broad range of services for the benefit of particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Switzerland and in more than 20 countries around the world.

We have been working in Bangladesh since the early 1970s, mainly in the domains of health and disaster risk management and with a growing focus on National Society Development. For the successful management and coordination of our Country programme, we are looking for a Country Coordinator 100% to be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with sporadic visits to project regions.

 

What you will be doing

  • Manage the SRC country programme with an annual turnover of 4-5 Mio. CHF including overall responsibility for human resources, administrative and transparent financial management;
  • Support and strengthen the auxiliary role of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society to the national authorities especially in the realization of its strategic objectives, contribute to organizational development and advising programme partners on key thematic and strategic issues;
  • Oversee and assure quality in the planning, implementation, monitoring and steering of development and humanitarian projects;
  • Support and facilitate the elaboration and design of innovative programme interventions and new project proposals;
  • Engage with RCRC movement partners to establish harmonized and coordinated programmes / plans in the domains of rural / urban resilience and National Society Development;
  • Liaise with international / national NGOs, the donor community, media, and other stakeholders;
  • Represent the organization and advocating for the programme objectives at all levels, ensuring programme visibility.

 

Your profile

  • University and/or post-graduate degree, preferably in Social Sciences, Organizational Development, Development Studies;
  • Minimum of 5 years international working experience in equivalent senior management position;
  • Proven experience in coordinating with Government authorities, partners and other NGOs;
  • Strong analytical capacities, strategic planning and problem solving skills, excellent monitoring and reporting skills, experience in change management is a great asset;
  • Strong people management, communication, motivational and leadership skills with excellent follow-through;
  • Sound knowledge and proven skills in project cycle management in the humanitarian and/or development sector;
  • Solid experience in financial management of mid-sized programmes; Experiences in local or regional fundraising would be an asset;
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to adapt to challenging working environments. Prior working experience in South Asia is desirable;
  • Very good written and spoken English is essential (working language), Bengali is an asset;
  • Experience in working with National Societies and/or in the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement is a strong asset
