Background of this search:The Citizen Security and Justice cluster, part of the Innovation in Citizen Services (IFD/ICS) Division, seeks a professional with experience as a research assistant in quantitative work, literature reviews, big data analysis and impact evaluation to collaborate in conducting research that provides evidence and inputs for public policy decision-making in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).The team's mission:The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), established in 1959, is the main source of financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. One of the IDB's strategic objectives is to promote the development of Latin American and Caribbean countries by improving citizen security.The mission of the Citizen Security and Justice (CSJ) cluster is to provide financial and technical assistance to member countries in the areas of violence prevention; modernization of the police; and improvement of justice, penitentiary, and reintegration systems. In order to support these efforts and provide specialized technical assistance to the countries of the region, the CSJ promotes the generation, consolidation and dissemination of research on the topics of social prevention, reduction of crime and violence, institutional strengthening of the police and justice, and social reintegration.What you will do:The person selected for this consultancy ('the research assistant') will support the CSJ team in regional research projects and in different LAC countries. The main tasks and responsibilities of this consultancy include (but are not limited to):Assist the research team in the preparation of research papers, reports and presentations.Identify, compile, and organize databases. Among these databases, high-frequency administrative data on crime and insecurity in LAC countries will be searched.
