Our vision is a just world in which all people determine the course of their lives in dignity and security, using environmental resources in a sustainable manner. As per September 1, 2024 or upon agreement we are looking for a Country Director in Bangladesh (F/M/D) - 100% based in Dhaka - with Travels to the Field. Bangladesh has a solid country programme implemented by a qualified and enthusiastic team.  Helvetas started its activities in Bangladesh in 2000 and is currently active all over the country to promote sustainable and inclusive development, resilience to climate change, safe and informed migration, and good governance. The team is working in close collaboration with civil society organisation, private sector and government. Helvetas focuses on locally led climate action and climate justice, working jointly with local and national partners. To support inclusive economic growth, the team engages with the private sector to jointly work on skills development and job creation. Helvetas has many years of experience working on local governance, supporting open budget hearings, local planning processes, improving accountability, and inclusion of vulnerable groups in decision-making. Safe migration is promoted through a right-based approach working with potential migrants and government institutions. The team also has solid expertise in humanitarian, development and peace nexus interventions, working with Rohingya refugees and host communities since 2017. MAIN TASKSAs a Country Director you ensure the country programme operates efficiently and effectively within the frame of the Helvetas institutional values, policies and strategies. You make sure the Bangladesh country strategy 2023-2027 meets its objectives. You lead, steer and are responsible for the implementation of the country programme in partnership with the government, civil society and the private sector. You ensure operational and financial planning and oversight of the programme and projects - development and humanitarian aid under the triple nexus approach - in compliance with the organizational strategies and regulations. You build and strengthen the network and relationships with central and local governments, strategic donors and non-governmental development partners. Your proactive engagement in acquisitions further develops a sound project portfolio and ensures a solid financial basis for Helvetas Bangladesh.
