Solar Photovoltaic Specialist
As a Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Specialist, you will strengthen various Vocational Training Institutions (VTIs) and further project partners in their capacity regarding Solar Photovoltaic installation, mainte nance, and the technical part of the provision of student-centered training and learning material devel opment. As a technical specialist for solar PV power systems, you will further represent Comundo and the project in solar specific networks and clusters, in alignment and together with the projects partner organisations. Your activities / tasks - Providing technical capacity support and guidance on solar PV systems (design, installation, maintenance). - Facilitating trainer-of-trainers workshops to strengthen local instructor capacity. - Supporting trainers and instructors, ensuring that training aligns with industry standards and TEVET/TEVETA (Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority Zambia) curriculum requirements. - Potentially supporting site assessments, demos, and practical evaluations to reinforce learn ing. - Strengthen the VTIs monitoring of training quality and outcomes to ensure trainees meet competency-based objectives. - In coordination with the Entrepreneurship Specialist, liaising with VTIs industry partners, and private solar companies to help link trained youth to internships or jobs. - Support the conducting of site assessments, analysing implementation of projects by VTIs and determining any improvements required. - Formalisation and strengthening of partnerships within the Solar Energy cluster, to ensure co ordinated efforts with other partners and donors active in the sector. - Document progress reports on implementation of activities in VTIs and Secondary Schools. - Develop a formal partnership model for both government and private sector. Your profile - Academic degree in Engineering, Environmental Studies, Renewable Energy, or a related field. - At least 3 years of professional experience in the Solar PV Sector. - Deep understanding of PV technology, energy storage, and grid integration. - Demonstrated knowledge in the field of renewable energy is required - Substantial computer literacy and very good command of the English language. - Adaptability and flexibility, collaboration and networking skills. - Willingness to travel within and beyond Lusaka (i.e. to the Copperbelt and Central Provinces).
Early Childhood Development and Pre-Primary Specialist
The Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC) Namibia is a longstanding partner organization of Comundo and is committed to delivering a qualitative and inclusive education for all children and youth. In addition, the Ministry promotes Namibian art, culture, and sports in favor of na tional unity and in consideration of its diversity. The Comundo Country Programme Namibia contributes significantly to a better education for all children and youth. To achieve this goal, we collaborate with the Ministry of Education, the regional Directorates of Education, different NGOs and with the National Institute for Educational Development (NIED). The Partner Organisation for this assignment is NIED, which is a Directorate under the Ministry of Education, in the Otjozondjupa Region in central Namibia. Your activities / tasks Your task is to support the NIED and MEIYSAC in their plans to implement the new Early Childhood Devel opment (ECD) policy and curriculum, and to improve ECD and Pre-Primary capacities and knowledge at the national level and across the 14 regions. This will lead to improved quality, and inclusive education for all children in ECD centers and Pre-Primary classes. Auto Electrical Skills Development Advisor
Our partner organisation, Salesian of Don Bosco, runs the Don Bosco Technical College located in the mining town of Chingola, in the Copperbelt province of Zambia. With the introduction of skills bursary awards by the government under the Constituency Development Fund, the institution has seen a surge in the number of youths eager to be trained in the various skills courses offered. These young adults are the primary target group for training in Auto Electrical skills, a course in high demand in the region. There are very few service providers in this field. As a vocational training institution, it is crucial for us to have expertise in this area. Your activities/tasks As a Comundo co-worker, you will support the establishment of a training unit for Auto Electrical skills development. You will advise the institution, collaborate with the training staff on course profiling, develop training documentation manuals, and ensure knowledge transfer by training the trainers of Automotive Mechanics to be proficient in the field. Expert in vocational training and curriculum development
The Government of Zambia is committed to promoting Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET), serving as a path for young people finding sustainable employment. However, the implementation of TEVET is faced with difficulties. Challenges include a lack of infrastructure at Vocational Training Institutions (VTIs), the linkage of training to labour market needs, the strong theoretical orientation of training and gender imbalances, among others. On top, the country – with an electricity source predominantly laying on hydropower – faces more regular droughts creating prolonged electricity shortages, what also affects a smooth running of training courses and education in general. On the other hand, there is high potential to diversify energy and with that employment in sectors such as solar energy. Within this context, Comundo – in collaboration with the responsible authority TEVETA and multiple partners – implements the project "Energy Skills 4 Youth (ES4Y): Competencybased vocational skills development in the (solar) energy sector to improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged youth". Your activities/tasks As a Comundo Co-Worker, you will be part of Comundo's country programme in Zambia, that focuses on basic- and vocational education with the overall goal of contributing to inclusive quality education (SDG 4). As part of the ES4Y team, you will particularly contribute to strengthening the TEVET system with a focus on competency-based training for (solar) electricity / energy for high-quality and inclusive TEVET for young people, at the same time contributing to reliable and clean energy. Based in Lusaka, you will collaborate with the Project Manager ES4Y, national and international advisors as well as further key stakeholders, including government bodies, vocational training institutions (VTIs), energy-sector partners.
