MSF ou Médecins Sans Frontières est une organisation humanitaire internationale qui apporte une aide médicale d'urgence à des populations confrontées à des crises menaçant leur survie, et ce, depuis bientôt cinquante ans. D'ailleurs Médecins Sans Frontières a reçu le prix Nobel de la Paix en 1999. Zones de conflits armés, épidémies, pandémies, catastrophes naturelles ou accès limité aux soins de santé, voici nos terrains d'intervention. Toutes ces situations nécessitent des ressources médicales et logistiques adaptées dont les autorités sanitaires et les ministères de la Santé ne disposent pas, ou pas en nombre suffisant, c'est pourquoi une assistance médicale internationale est essentielle aux populations.
Si vous avez entendu parler des actions humanitaires MSF, c'est parce que MSF prend la parole publiquement pour tenter de faire sortir une crise de l'oubli, alerter l'opinion sur des exactions commises loin des caméras, critiquer les insuffisances du système de l'aide, ou lorsque l'assistance est détournée de son objectif premier pour servir des intérêts politiques.
Réunies autour d'une même charte, les équipes de MSF sont composées de personnel médical, logistique et administratif venant de tous les continents. Context & mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The training support strategy for projects aims to develop and structure our learning activities over time, adapt trainings to specific contexts, and deploy them as close as possible to field activities in order to reach the largest possible number of healthcare workers. The approach combines theoretical and practical components to facilitate knowledge transfer.
The overall objective is to contribute to consolidating the quality of care by strengthening the skills of healthcare teams and improving teamwork.
The Pediatric Trainer contributes to the preparation, implementation, and follow‑up of training activities in pediatrics, nutrition, and newborn care. Trainings are part of, and aligned with, the objectives of the OCG strategic plan.
Tasks and responsibilities
Preparation and implementation of medical trainings
- Contribute to the identification of training needs through observations, discussions, and needs assessments conducted upstream of the training.
- Participate in the development and adaptation of training content to meet identified needs, using a variety of pedagogical approaches, under the supervision of the pediatric referent for content.
- Create, review, complete, and harmonize training materials and course sessions.
- Facilitate and deliver face‑to‑face or remote training sessions.
- Work in close collaboration with the Medical Department and members of the Learning & Development team.
- Strengthen the skills of medical and paramedical staff by providing team‑based or individual support such as bedside training and teaching.
- Support the consolidation of knowledge related to norms, standards, guidelines, and tools through training activities and practical care support, both on site and remotely.
- Support field healthcare workers in developing facilitation and clinical mentoring skills, including assisting in the organization and delivery of training sessions and workshops to be replicated during staff induction or knowledge updates.
- Develop assessments to evaluate the acquisition of competencies and practical skills in the workplace for medical and paramedical staff.
- Provide individual and/or collective support using a mentoring and/or coaching approach: define implementation conditions (before, during, after), conduct mentoring and coaching activities in the workplace and, if required, remotely.
Follow‑up of field trainings
- Structure and ensure the follow‑up of trainings in terms of skills transfer and acquisition.
- Write training reports, propose targeted recommendations, and provide support to facilitate change.
- Evaluate the quality of the follow‑up mechanisms implemented, including post‑training evaluations and related strategies.
Core responsibilities / Background work
- Implement mechanisms for skills transfer and evaluation of learning outcomes.
- Contribute to the creation and development of training documents and tools: booklets, logbooks, job aids, training materials, etc.
- Participate in strategic reflection and in‑depth analysis of the pediatric, nutrition, and newborn care training offerings, with the aim of improving their relevance to needs.
Your profile
Education & Experience
- Qualified Medical doctor with specialty in Pediatrics
- Training or experience in adult education / training
- Experience with newborns in maternity settings
- Experience in neonatology and pediatrics
- Experience caring for malnourished children
- Minimum of 3 years' experience on different MSF projects with neonatal, pediatric, and nutritional components
Languages
- Fluent in French and English; or English and Arabic

- Knowledge of newborn care, nutrition, and pediatric guidelines

Terms of employment
- Fixed-term contract, 9 months
- Part-time, 50% (20h/week)
- Working place : Field-based position with visits to the headquarters in Geneva
- Practical working conditions in the field are in accordance with the MSF OCG volunteer manual.
- Ideal start date: As Soon As Possible
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 2'750.- based on 50%
- Benefits: Health insurance and living expenses in the countries of intervention and at headquarters, paid according to internal regulations.
