Purpose of Job



The Analyst contributes to all phases of the project cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, implementation and monitoring.


The Analyst will take responsibility for the tasks assigned to them by the operation leader or more senior members of the project team, or more senior bankers, which may include undertaking comprehensive due diligence, including financial, market, integrity and EBRD policy compliance, as well as effective post-signing implementation and monitoring.


The Analyst carries out these tasks as part of a project team under the guidance of the operation leader or under the supervision/guidance of more senior bankers.


The Project life-cycle involves several stages from origination to signing, followed by implementation and monitoring until full completion and repayment or exit. All the stages involve different tasks such as business marketing, project due diligence analysis, structuring and approval, negotiation and signing of project agreements, disbursement and monitoring.


The role of the Analyst is to contribute, as a project team member, to the structuring, implementation and monitoring of debt and equity transactions, and their effective implementation and monitoring in line with the Bank's operational objectives. Under the guidance of the operation leader and/or more senior bankers, the Analyst performs those tasks assigned to them and provides support to the operation leader and the project team throughout the project cycle, with a particular emphasis on research, data gathering, credit analysis and financial modelling.


The Infrastructure Eurasia Team is a leading provider of finance for infrastructure in Turkey, Central Asia, Mongolia, and Caucasus. It finances projects in both the private and public sectors in all areas of transport and municipal infrastructure. The position will be based in London and will focus on infrastructure projects across the Eurasian region.



Accountabilities & Responsibilities



Under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker:


Structuring and Execution


  • Work as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project structuring and execution, including comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information and financial performance data; analyse and evaluate potential risks related to the proposed project, including analysis of financial statements, preparing and updating financial models and financial projections;
  • Assist with the designing and processing of technical co-operation assistance, including preparation of terms of reference and internal approval documentation, to support the related investment project or the related policy dialogue initiative;
  • As may be requested, assist with communication with other internal units of the Bank, clients and other stakeholders, at the operational level, such as preparing draft correspondence, presentations, and following up on internal emails;
  • Ensure that all tasks assigned to the Analyst are completed within the specified time frames to a high quality and in line with the policies, procedures and objectives of the Bank.

Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation and Reporting


  • As requested by the operation leader or a Portfolio Manager, undertake assigned tasks relating to the implementation and monitoring of projects to which the Analyst is assigned as part of the project team, including compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement, monitoring of progress of the project and financial performance of the client, assessing evolving risk factors and monitoring and assessing covenant compliance;
  • As requested by the operation leader or more senior member of the project team, prepare timely and comprehensive draft monitoring reports and include recommendations for corrective actions where required and ensure these corrective actions and recommendations are brought to the attention of more senior team members;
  • As may be requested by, and under the supervision of, a TC operation leader, assist with the effective implementation and monitoring of TC assignments including communication with TC client, monitoring of TC fund usage, preparation and filing of relevant TC progress and completion reports to support the TC operation leader to meet donor reporting requirements and operational objectives.

The responsibilities of the Analyst are designed to allow the Analyst to progressively undertake more complex tasks and build the scope of responsibilities based on acquired experience and expertise.



Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Knowledge


  • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience in the areas of expertise.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
  • Quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
  • Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.
  • Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spread sheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
  • Good understanding of relevant systems and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Relevant financial industry experience from an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management firm, or auditing/financial consulting firm operating to international standards.
  • Exposure to industry/country experience.
  • Exposure to infrastructure is desirable, to include inter alia understanding of the sector specifics and regulation.
  • Experience in working in Eurasia.
  • Good command over the local/country language is an advantage.

The role will focus on implementing the internal framework for guarantee programme delivery, compliance and monitoring, and on supporting the associated technical co-operation (TC) programmes. The Analyst will also contribute to other designated donor-supported programmes and FI PDI operations, particularly those involving guarantees.     The FI PDI Team supports FIBG business delivery by designing, fundraising for and implementing donor-funded programmes through partner financial institutions (PFIs) across all countries of operation. The Team works closely with other departments and teams within and outside FIBG, including Donor Partnerships, CSD, PSD and PODD, as well as with donors. Programmes may include incentive grants, guarantees, concessional finance and TC, structured to support the Bank's objectives under the Strategic and Capital Framework (SCF) while taking donor priorities into account. The Team, comprising around 30 staff, leads and contributes to all stages of programme development and implementation, including design, fundraising, operationalisation, monitoring and reporting.   The Analyst will work within the FI PDI Team under the supervision of the FI PDI Product Lead, in close coordination with the designated EFSD Plus and UIF Associate Programme Manager, Operation Leaders (OLs) and relevant EBRD units. They support the design and approval of those programmes and then ensure integrity and consistency of the facilities/programmes' implementation. They also manage and/or oversee implementation of TC programmes/projects, sometimes with the support of senior officers.   This position is envisaged to primarily focus on supporting the programme structuring and origination and data management activities of the team (particularly of donor-required portfolio and programme data).   The FI Project Development and Implementation Team (FI PDI) oversees implementation of a portfolio of over EUR 3 billion of active donor funds and is responsible for mobilisation, administration and overall management of donor funds throughout projects life-cycle, including internal and external reporting.  The Team ensures that donor funds are mobilised, committed, deployed and reported upon in an efficient, accurate and transparent manner, applying the highest professional standards, given the fiduciary duty that the Bank assumes vis-à-vis Donors' funds.        Accountabilities & Responsibilities       Programme origination and development: - Support the origination, design, and development of assigned FI donor funded programmes, while   supporting implementation of the FI Strategy via partner financial institutions (PFIs). This may include undertaking research of the scale and nature of the issues that programmes would address in a given country or region, other MDB's experience and best practices; drafting relevant funding proposals; developing pitch documentation or other visual media (e.g. PowerPoint) and ensuring feasibility of programme execution and reporting frameworks in the context of FI PDI methodologies and other Bank systems and processes. - Support, under the oversight of the Associate Director, Development Leader, the donor resources mobilisation process within the FI PDI mandate and scope by drafting concept papers, fiches, communications, presentations, and other fundraising documents aimed at pitching or articulating FI programmes requiring donor funded concessional finance; attending and contributing in donor meetings. - In cooperation with respective Bank departments, Programme Leads, and transaction teams, support comprehensive individual programme deployment and implementation throughout project cycle from contracting of newly raised funding to facilitating execution and providing pro-active guidance and support to problem-solving as required.     Donor Portfolio Management, Analytics and Coordination - Maintain and monitor FI-related donor funding pipelines, portfolio data, and programme tracking tools to support strategic planning and resource mobilisation activities. - Produce data analysis, dashboards, visualisations, and management reports to inform decision-making and stakeholder engagement. - Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including DP, CSD, G&EI and operational teams, to ensure timely collection, validation and reporting of donor and portfolio information. - Support donor portfolio oversight through performance monitoring, data quality assurance, portfolio reviews, and preparation of briefing materials for senior management and external partners.
