Dienste in Übersee gGmbH (DÜ) has been looking for development workers for partner organisations of Bread for the World for a good 60 years. DÜ selects these ecumenically and developmentally committed professionals according to standardised procedures, trains them in intensive preparation for the service lasting several weeks and accompanies them during their time abroad and after their return.

Bread for the World is the worldwide development agency of the Protestant churches in Germany. In more than 90 countries around the globe, the organisation empowers poor and marginalised people to improve their living conditions through their own efforts. Bread for the World works closely with local, often church-based partner organisations.

DÜ is one of the seven organisations in Germany recognised by the German Development Aid Act (EhfG). With a contract according to the EhfG, professionals receive social security coverage according to German standards abroad. In addition, DÜ imparts relevant knowledge and practical skills for intercultural work with people in preparation and accompaniment.

Background

 Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute (MPI) was founded in 2000 with the participation of the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CA-FOD), Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) in the Asia-Pacific region. In 20+ years, the renowned training institution has trained over 2500 peace workers from a total of 60 countries - mainly from Southeast Asia and South Asia - on peacebuilding measures and conflict resolution strategies. In addition to imparting theoretical and practical knowledge, it aims to contribute to global networking and solidarity in conflict transformation and peacebuilding. The work focuses on respect for human rights and close cooperation with various actors as catalysts for peace and social transformation. To this end, MPI educates and trains individuals and institutions in peacebuilding measures, produces, and disseminates materials and knowledge on peaceful conflict transformation, and networks peace activists with one another. With 7 employees, MPI is one of the smaller Philippine organizations. Its work is best known for its annual peace training courses, which are aimed at employees from NGOs, local peace initiatives, colleges, and government agencies. Despite the challenges, employees strongly identify with the organization's philosophy, which leads to consistent employee loyalty. As a renowned but smaller organization, MPI is financed exclusively through donations, one-off grants, and the annual peacebuilding training. The financial situation is stable but challenging.

MPI is looking for a dedicated professional to support the realignment of the organization's strategy and drive resource mobilization. The specialist will support MPI in the development and implementation of new programs and institutional strengthening.

The position is based in Davao City, Philippines.

 

Job Scope

As a professional, you will be responsible for rethinking and realigning the organizational strategy, driving resource mobilization, and developing new programs to promote peacebuilding. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering the development of strategic objectives and the implementation of policies and procedures
  • Conducting regular capacity assessments and advising on the development of recommendations to increase impact
  • Support in conducting impact assessments and program evaluations to measure success and provide general guidance
  • Assisting with the development and application of a fundraising strategy
  • Advice on donor mapping and setting up a database of relevant donor organizations
  • Supporting the planning and implementation of fundraising events, campaigns and various initiatives
  • Assistance in monitoring fundraising events, analyzing and evaluating data and regularly adapting the fundraising strategy
  • Supporting the preparation of applications and reporting
  • Advising the finance team on the preparation of budgets for fundraising activities and change processes in the area of organizational development

 

Your Profile

 

  • Relevant Bachelor's degree (e.g. nonprofit management, business administration, communications), a Master's degree is a plus
  • Relevant professional experience in organizational development and program management, ideally in the non-profit sector
  • Expertise in resource mobilization and financial diversification
  • Knowledge of donor databases and fundraising software is a plus
  • Ability to analyze and implement complex processes
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Fully proficiency in English
  • Interest in mutual learning in an intercultural context
  • Flexibility and motivation for social integration into the Philippine culture

 

Citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or Switzerland is required.

You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. You will report to Advisor, ERDI and Head, Statistics and Data Innovation Unit and may oversee National and Administrative Staff. Your Role   The Senior Economist (Data Science) will play a key role in building up capacity in the use of Big Data analytics in development research and policy within ADB. The incumbent will contribute to the research work of the department, including self-directed, methodological research using very large datasets of high-frequency data; participate in data analytics with internal stakeholders; conduct knowledge sessions and training workshops for ADB departments and external clients in developing member countries; contribute to the preparation of ERDI's annual flagship publications; and support the Advisor and Head, Statistics and Data Innovation Unit in areas of quantitative analyses, technical assistance (TA), administrative matters, and work plans. You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. ITD enables ADB's digital agenda and supports the Bank's global operations. The department delivers digital innovation, IT infrastructure, services, and solutions, and provides tools and knowledge platforms to 6,000+ users in ADB's Headquarters and 40+ field offices (FOs) in Asia and the Pacific.   ITFS manages the end-user IT services and key administrative functions that support the day-to-day business of ITD. It is responsible for maximizing the value of IT for the end users through effective user support and continuous learning on digital technologies to increase end-user productivity. Your team will support the growing user base to be more mobile and productive anytime, anywhere.   You report to Director, ITFS and oversee other International Staff and National and Administrative Staff.     Your Role As a Principal IT Specialist (User Services), you will lead the design, development, and delivery of user-centric IT services that support the daily IT needs of ADB's workforce. You will be responsible for ensuring that the services delivered by ITD are user-friendly, intuitive, and consistent. You will work closely with the product owners and other ITD teams to improve the user interface and the user journey on the IT service desk (AskIT) and other digital channels. You will also oversee the continual service improvement function and coordinate the vendors involved in the user services functions, such as the IT service desk, the telephone operators, the copy center operators, and the end-user equipment vendors.   You will: · Lead the continual service improvement (CSI) function and identify opportunities for enhancing the user experience and service quality (including the efficiency, and effectiveness of IT services and processes). · Ensure the availability and reliability of the user services functions, especially the service desk, which operates 24/7. · Manage and coordinate the vendors involved in the user services functions, such as the service desk, the telephone operators, the copy center operators, and the equipment vendors. · Foster self-service and user empowerment by providing clear and accessible information, guidance, and support. · Collaborate with business units, product owners, and other ITD teams to understand user needs, expectations, and pain points; synchronize the user services and the user interface with all other IT functions, ensuring consistency and collaboration. · Conduct user research, usability testing, prototyping, and evaluation to gather insights and feedback from internal and external users and stakeholders. · Ensure the alignment of IT services with ADB's corporate identity, branding, and accessibility guidelines. · Advocate for user-centric design and foster a culture of user empathy and innovation within IT and across ADB. · Coordinate with other IT functions and service providers to ensure the smooth integration, delivery, and support of IT solutions and services. · Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to User Services team members and other IT staff on User Services principles, methods, and tools. · Prepare and manage the budget, work plan, and performance indicators for the User Services team and the CSI function.   Qualifications You will need: · Master's degree in computer science, information systems, human-computer interaction, user experience design, or related fields. Alternatively, university degree in related fields combined with additional relevant professional experience can be considered. · At least 12 years of relevant experience in designing, developing, and delivering user-centric IT solutions and services, preferably in a large and complex international organization. · Proven expertise in user services research, design, testing, and evaluation methods and tools, such as user interviews, surveys, personas, journey maps, scenarios, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, etc. · Strong knowledge of user services platforms and frameworks, such as Service Now and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). · Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and stakeholders. · Strong leadership, management, and collaboration skills, with the ability to lead and motivate teams, manage projects, and work effectively with internal and external partners. · High level of creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and holistically about user needs and IT solutions. · Good understanding of ADB's business processes, functions, and objectives, as well as the development context and challenges in Asia and the Pacific. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is required. · Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level. · Please refer to the [link](https://www.adb.org/sites/default/files/page/42368/adb-competencies-international-staff-6-201908.pdf) for ADB Competency Framework for IS6.   Benefits ADB offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive [benefits package](https://www.adb.org/site/careers/what-we-offer).
